FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Straight answers to what families ask us most. Still unsure? The first call is free.
Do I need a trust, or is a will enough?
A will is enough for many people. If you own a home in California, a living trust usually spares your family probate, which can take a year or more and often costs more than the trust. On the free call we recommend the smaller plan when it's enough.
What does the free call cover?
Thirty minutes about your family and what you own. You leave with a recommendation and a flat fee in writing. There's no obligation.
How long does it take?
Most plans take three to four weeks from the first meeting to signing. If someone is ill, tell us and we move faster.
Can we meet in Spanish?
Yes. Ms. Ashby-Reyes meets with families in English or Spanish, and your summary can be in either language.
Do you come to our home?
For clients who can't easily travel, yes: meetings and signing day can happen at home or in a care facility.
What happens to my plan if I move or remarry?
Life changes are the most common reason a plan stops working. We check in every three years, and a trust update starts at $850.
Is the fee really flat?
Yes, for the planning packages: the fee in your engagement letter is the fee you pay. Trust administration is quoted after a free call because every estate is different.
Does contacting you make me a client?
No. You become a client only when we both sign an engagement letter. Until then, please don't send confidential details.
